One of the more complex and engrossing creations you'll find on store shelves, Steven Erikson has crafted a mind-blowing spectacle. The world is vast and the story can be confusing because it doesn't follow a tried-and-true pattern of storytelling. This is, ultimately, one of its great strengths. The cast is huge, the story a kaleidoscope, and should you persevere you will hate to close the tenth and final volume but find your reading experience a most rewarding one for having made the journey. This series also features side novels by Erikson's friend, Ian C. Esselmont, who helped created the world.
