Loren Estleman has for decades chronicled the escapades of Amos Walker, a rumpled, battered-but-not-broken private detective in Detroit. INFERNAL ANGELS is Estleman’s twenty-first Walker novel, and one of his best. Walker’s latest case involves new crimes and old. He is hired to trace and recover some stolen HDTV converter boxes. It’s a somewhat sedate case until Walker’s client is murdered and it turns out that the boxes are being used to smuggle some terminally bad heroin into the area. Walker is caught in the middle in this tale of old school and new and is tested to the limit.
