Her Smoke Rose Up Forever is a collection of short stories and novellas by award-winning writer James Tiptree, Jr. Regarded as one of the great men of his time, who was both macho and yet surprisingly deft with feminist ideals in his work, it was somewhat of a revelation when Tiptree pulled back the mask on a 10 year career to show the world that SHE was really Alice B. Sheldon. This collection highlights some of the best work Sheldon put out, showing both a string grasp at technologically based "hard" sci-fi as well as shifting to other aspects of the genre and examining the sociological and psychological areas. Tiptree is too often overlooked and her impact on the genre should be noted.
