The most distinctly different of the fantasy list, by far, is Discworld, the uproarious collection of novels by Terry Pratchett. Teeming with parody of the usual fantasy cookie-cutter ideas, Pratchett blows massive holes of hilarity into those concepts without pulling punches. The madcap adventures of Rincewind the Wizard, the City Watch, the Witches, and even Death, the Discworld will leave you laughing out loud more often than not, and you will sometimes find yourself applying Pratchett's keen lens to standard fantasy novels you pick up later. You will not find better when you look for the lighter side of fantasy.
