Curious, creative and smart are just some of the words that come to mind when I think of Maya S. Penn. In her book, YOU GOT THIS!: Unleash Your Awesomeness, Find Your Path, and Change Your World, she maps a blueprint to unlock your creativity and pave your way toward success. Maya encourages readers to focus on what we do for fun and what we are passionate about, then examine our childlike wonder. These activities, she explains, could be the beginning of a career. She also helps readers narrow down what type of creative personality they have, like the flip-flopper, the blank drawer or the under-thinker.

Throughout her book, Maya gives tips on how to make one's ideas become reality. One thing she recommends is creating a dream board, which is a visual reminder of your passions. Then she asks the reader to examine it carefully for themes. Now that the reader can see his or her interests, she recommends learning all that there is to about that subject using the internet, reading books and articles, or meeting people with similar interests.
Maya also provides advice on areas which many readers might not have considered, such as surrounding oneself with supportive family and friends, finding a mentor and getting parents on board for big ideas. I liked this book because Maya is very determined to help readers embrace their uniqueness and follow their dreams. She wants readers of all ages to be kids again and focus on pursuing what’s fun. Sometimes we can lose sight of that, but this sage entrepreneur encourages us to take fun seriously. She will definitely be someone that we will want to watch and grow.
