When Bill meets Jenny in 1975, he knows immediately that she is his destiny, his future and his soul mate for all time. Her love of life and fast-paced job in New York City's fashion industry are a vivid contrast to Bill's dutiful law career in the family firm where he has done little more than live up to obligations imposed by his parents and siblings. Even though his judgmental family is strongly opposed to his marriage, Bill weds Jenny against their wishes and begins the life of which he has always dreamt. He even garners the courage to make a significant career change that fulfills him emotionally in a way that practicing law never did.

"At first glance, the two separate stories in UNTIL THE END OF TIME may seem unconnected. Once the reader delves into this heartwarming novel, though, it's easy to see how the main characters in these loving tales connect in a supernatural way. "

When Bill's career choice requires relocating in order for him to secure employment, Jenny, because of her deep love for her husband, is willing to throw her lot in with his and make a change that puts her career on the backburner. The most important thing in her life is Bill, and the sacrifice is one she makes lovingly. Together they start a new life in Wyoming, a far cry from what they're used to in New York City.

In 2013, Robert is working night and day to establish his publishing company and put it on the map with a bestselling novel that flies off the shelves. When he receives a submission that's handwritten in 12 spiral notebooks and wrapped in a woman's apron, he's intrigued to find out what this mystery lady has to say. As Robert reads the touching story about a farm girl from the country who travels to the city and finds adventure, he finds himself moved by the emotion of her words and the simple, effective style of her writing. He must know who this woman is, and he has to publish her book. As far as he's concerned, its success is not in question, it's assured.

After doing some research, Robert learns that the author of the book, Lillibet Petersen, is a young Amish woman who has rarely set foot off of her family's farm and who has taken a great risk by writing and submitting her work for publication. He arranges to meet her at a local dairy farm so Lillibet can maintain the secrecy that shrouds her novel and keep its existence from her demanding father.

When Robert and Lillibet meet, they feel an instant connection that makes no sense to them but is as real as the air they breathe. Unfortunately, the Amish are unable to marry outside of their own community, and the pair knows that there is no hope of a future for them. Luckily, however, fate has a way of playing a part and making the impossible possible, and Lillibet's life takes turns that she never thought could happen.

At first glance, the two separate stories in UNTIL THE END OF TIME may seem unconnected. Once the reader delves into this heartwarming novel, though, it's easy to see how the main characters in these loving tales connect in a supernatural way. Is life simply all that we see from our limited perspective, or are there bigger forces at work that enable lovers to maintain their connection throughout not just one but many lifetimes?

About the Book

Bill, a dedicated young lawyer working at his family’s prestigious New York firm, leaves everything he trained for to follow his dream and become a minister in rural Wyoming. Jenny, his wife, is a stylist whose heart and soul are invested in fashion. She leaves the milieu and life she loves to join him. The certainty they share is that their destinies are linked forever.

Fast forward 38 years. Robert is a hardworking independent book publisher in Manhattan who has given up all personal life to build his struggling business. He is looking for one big hit novel to publish. Lillibet is a young Amish woman, living as though in the 17th century, caring for her widowed father and three young brothers on their family farm. In secret at night, by candlelight, she has written the novel that burns within her, and gets it into Robert’s hands, wrapped in her hand-stitched apron. He falls in love first with the book, and then with the woman he has never met, living in the sequestered world of the Amish --- a world without telephones, computers, electricity, modern conveniences, or cars. Although Lillibet faces banishment from her family and community, she embraces the opportunity to publish her novel, and is irresistibly drawn to the man who has heard her voice. Destiny is at work here. Fate draws her from her horse-and-buggy life toward his, and the publication of her novel.

In the hands of master storyteller Danielle Steel, these two remarkable relationships come together in unexpected and surprising ways, as lovers are lost, and find each other again. If it is true that real love lasts forever and lovers cannot lose each other, then UNTIL THE END OF TIME will not only comfort and fascinate us, as destiny does her dance, but it will give us hope as well. Love and fate are powerful, irresistible forces, as Steel proves to us here, in a book about courage, change, risk and hope...and love that never dies.
