It’s 1963 in Farro, Iowa, and four friends go on a mysterious journey to find the town bully. It’s not an ordinary journey, though --- Henry, Helene (his twin sister) and their best buddies, Alan and Nicki, discover a book called SUBTLE TRAVEL AND THE SUBTLE SELF by Joseph Brody which tells them how to leave their bodies by using a number sequence before they fall asleep.

During their search, the kids try to find Mr. Brody at his house because they discovered something in the subtle world that worries them. Although Mr. Brody passed away, Mrs. Brody has some interesting information --- it turns out that the missing boy has been spying for Mr. Brody’s co-author, Abe MØller. Mrs. Brody also warns the quartet that this means the missing kid is in danger.

The author did an amazing job adding vivid details to the kids’ experiences, making the story come alive.

The more they dig into finding the missing boy, the deeper the danger gets. The story moves along quickly, and the reader is taken through a number of twists and turns.

Supernatural stories have always interested me, and I was curious how THE TRAP would tackle traveling through another dimension. The author did an amazing job adding vivid details to the kids’ experiences, making the story come alive. Through subtle travel, they had rainbow colored snowflakes (called a flux stream) sprouting out of their heads, they walked through walls, they jumped from high distances without getting hurt and even met ghosts.  It’s a fascinating, page-turning book that I highly recommend.
