THE IMPOSTER QUEEN is a unique and creative novel with a strong main character and an imaginative setting. Sarah Fine creates an impressive fantasy world unlike any other. Although it is difficult to understand the various terminology in the beginning of the novel, the reader will soon begin to understand the complex world Elli lives in. Elli is part of the Kupari, the only people who wield magic. Of the Kupari, the Valtia is the strongest, with the capabilities of wielding both ice and fire magic. Second to the Valtia is the Saadella, Elli, who is, in a way, the princess. Her rule is triggered by the death of the Valtia. Only once the Valtia dies can the magic be transferred into the Saadella.

Elli has been conditioned to think of the safety and wellbeing of her people from a young age. Although she doubts her worthiness to rule, Elli is eager to serve and protect the people at whatever cost. But, when the Valtia dies suddenly, leaving Elli to take her place, a complication arises: the power that was supposed to be transferred into Elli has disappeared. With invaders threatening the safety of the people, Elli is a disgrace to the kingdom.

Full of adventure and action with a unique romance and setting, THE IMPOSTER QUEEN stands out from other fantasy novels.

With no other options, Elli is forced to flee for her life into the dangerous outlands. Wounded and alone, she knows she cannot survive for long. But, to her surprise, Elli finds unexpected help in the outlands, despite its reputation for harboring criminals. With the help of her new friends, Elli begins to uncover the secrets to questions that could help her defend her people. Now she must choose what to do with this newfound knowledge before it is too late.

In THE IMPOSTER QUEEN, Elli immediately establishes herself as a brave girl attempting to live up to extremely high expectations. Even though her supposed destiny shatters, she does not let that control her. Through opposition, she grows stronger as a person. The novel is very character-driven and as Elli develops, the plot becomes more exciting.

Overall, THE IMPOSTER QUEEN is a thrilling novel that promises only to become better with future installments. Full of adventure and action with a unique romance and setting, THE IMPOSTER QUEEN stands out from other fantasy novels.
