In THE HOLLYWOOD ASSISTANT, aspiring novelist Cassidy Foster leaves Texas to go to California. She will work as a personal assistant to famous film director Nate Sterling and his actress wife, Marisol Torres.

Cassidy’s best friend, Lexie, lives and works in Hollywood. When she hears of an open position for this power couple, Lexie immediately contacts Cassidy and encourages her to take the job. Cassidy trusts Lexie, so she decides to make the big move to Tinseltown.

"As with any heart-pounding thriller, there are numerous plot twists throughout the book.... [T]he prose is lively and moves the story along quite effectively."

Nate and Marisol are easy to work with and seem to have the perfect life: a beautiful house in Hollywood Hills, lots of money and a solid marriage. But not everything is as it initially appears. They argue a lot. Nate believes that Marisol is cheating on him. Cassidy hasn’t been honest about her past and is falling for her boss. Even Lexie has her own secrets.

Did Cassidy make a huge mistake relocating to California? Can anything good come of her new venture?

As with any heart-pounding thriller, there are numerous plot twists throughout the book. THE HOLLYWOOD ASSISTANT seems to have more than the usual amount, which should keep readers guessing for a while. Furthermore, the prose is lively and moves the story along quite effectively.

The ending was unexpected, and I got the impression that May Cobb was setting the stage for a potential sequel, which I would be eager to dive into if it ever comes to fruition. Either way, I’ll look forward to Cobb’s next book as I now know why she has won multiple awards and received much acclaim for her previous efforts.

Maybe that’s why the two are always fighting when they think Cassidy isn’t around.
