Morgan, Frost and Belle are beautiful and wealthy women whose kids attend Atherton Academy, a private and prestigious school in New York City. They are all active in the school, helping with fundraisers and special promotions.
Because of their wealth and exceptional good looks, these ladies have formed a tight bond and are often looked on jealously by other parents. Morgan also has made a name for herself as the go-to person for advice. Need someone to paint your apartment? Ask Morgan. Need a recommendation for the best sushi bar? Ask Morgan. Need help finding a babysitter? Ask Morgan.
"The characters are often over-the-top in terms of their reactions to things as author Emma Rosenblum details their extravagant lifestyles. This makes the book enjoyable for both adults and teens."
But then Sofia comes to town. Sofia is from Miami and has relocated to Manhattan with her two children, who have been enrolled at Atherton Academy. She’s dependent on spousal support from her ex, which pales in comparison to the amount of money the other moms have at their disposal. Nevertheless, Morgan, Frost and Belle take Sofia under their wings, teaching her the ropes of how to survive in their world (which is much different from the way her life was in Miami).
Shortly after Sofia’s arrival, things turn sideways for the trio. It appears that someone is trying to sabotage their lives. Naturally, they become suspicious of Sofia. Is she messing with them, or is someone else out to get them?
Although MEAN MOMS is a novel for adults, it reads and sounds much like a high school coming-of-age tale as Morgan, Frost and Belle have a tendency to act like they are in a high school clique. The characters are often over-the-top in terms of their reactions to things as author Emma Rosenblum details their extravagant lifestyles. This makes the book enjoyable for both adults and teens. And the story is a whodunit, as readers are presented with the question of who the troublemaker is, making it a good candidate for those who love mysteries.

Spanning the course of one eventful school year in New York, MEAN MOMS is part satire of upper-crust mom-ing and part mystery, interrogating the line between friendship and jealousy and getting at the question:
What would happen if the woman standing next to you at school pickup was actually a sociopath?
