In the midst of the 60s, teens run away all the time in desolate Tucson, Arizona. Even so, when Caroline's older sister, Jess, goes missing, it tears her family apart. Caroline puts the blame on herself, as she saw her sneaking out that night and knew she could've stopped her by saying something sooner. Her parents tell her to let the police handle it, but all the leads are cold.

Meanwhile, Caroline struggles with romance and friendships, feeling abandoned by everyone. She turns to the only person she feels she can trust: Jess's boyfriend, Tony. He's convinced her that if they work together, they can find Jess, while the rest of the world warns her to stay away from him. But as she falls deeper into trusting Tony, her reality turns out to be more fragile than she thinks. Love turns to horror as Caroline realizes Jess isn't the only one in danger.

HALF IN LOVE WITH DEATH captivated me beyond the last page, leaving me with so many thoughts and praises for this fantastic story.

HALF IN LOVE WITH DEATH isa haunting novel with elements of mystery and romance. The characters are extremely well-developed, which makes the mystery even more difficult to solve; you never know who to trust. Romance blooms where you'd least expect it. The author definitely succeeded in making HALF IN LOVE WITH DEATH a mystery, as the ending is entirely unexpected and completely unpredictable until you begin to see the events unfolding. As the events of the story begin to untangle, an aspect of horror enters the novel, making it chilling and enthralling. Although there are a lot of characters involved, the author does a good job of keeping everything at a manageable complexity level. The imagery and 60s vibes are also extremely well-developed, creating a unique and interesting atmosphere. HALF IN LOVE WITH DEATH captivated me beyond the last page, leaving me with so many thoughts and praises for this fantastic story.
