In 2021, Elle Cosimano introduced Finlay Donovan to readers in FINLAY DONOVAN IS KILLING IT. Finlay is a struggling novelist, locked in a domestic quarrel with her estranged husband Steve, and trying to navigate life through all the typical dangers that young families face.

Early in the book, Finlay has a meeting with her agent, Sylvia, who is pressing her to get her new novel out of the word processor and to the publisher. They discuss the book in a crowded restaurant. A customer overhears parts of the conversation and mistakenly believes that Finlay is a contract killer. Soon she receives a $50,000 offer to kill the woman’s husband. This enjoyable and witty story begged for a sequel.

"Cosimano has penned another fun, easy-to-read story with quite a few twists and turns."

FINLAY DONOVAN KNOCKS ’EM DEAD is that sequel. This time, it is Steve who apparently has drawn the ire of a contract killer. Finlay and her live-in babysitter/business partner, Vero, are aware that the contract has been offered, and they are doing their best to identify the assassin. Steve may be a terrible person who has ruined Finlay’s life, but he is still the father of her two children and she does not want to see him harmed.

Finlay’s police officer sister, her parents, her agent and her two romantic interests have all returned from the first book. And lurking in the background are the real criminals, Russian mobsters, who add just enough danger and gunfire to make Finlay’s life a never-ending chase from crisis to crisis.

In FINLAY DONOVAN KNOCKS ’EM DEAD, Vero has some secrets of her own that have Finlay very concerned. Finlay also has her book deadline to meet, and amazingly she finds time in the early morning hours to formulate thousands of words to satisfy her agent and publisher. Of course, the plot of her unnamed novel bears a striking resemblance to what readers see on these pages.

Cosimano has penned another fun, easy-to-read story with quite a few twists and turns. Finlay Donovan and her supporting cast seem destined for even bigger things. FINLAY DONOVAN IS KILLING IT has been optioned by the producers of “Pretty Little Liars” for a TV show, so readers can start playing the speculation game connecting actors to characters. I am looking forward to seeing the book come to life on the small screen.

Teaser

Finlay Donovan is once again struggling to finish her next novel and keep her head above water as a single mother of two. On the bright side, she has her live-in nanny and confidant Vero to rely on, and the only dead body she's dealt with lately is that of her daughter's pet goldfish. On the not-so-bright side, someone out there wants her ex-husband, Steven, out of the picture. Permanently. Whatever else Steven may be, he's a good father, but saving him will send her down a rabbit hole of hit-women disguised as soccer moms, and a little bit more involvement with the Russian mob than she'd like. Meanwhile, Vero is keeping secrets, and Detective Nick Anthony seems determined to get back into her life.

About the Book

From Edgar Award nominee Elle Cosimano comes FINLAY DONOVAN KNOCKS 'EM DEAD, the hilarious and heart-pounding follow-up to FINLAY DONOVAN IS KILLING IT.

Finlay Donovan is --- once again --- struggling to finish her next novel and keep her head above water as a single mother of two.

Meanwhile, Vero's keeping secrets, and Detective Nick Anthony seems determined to get back into her life. He may be a hot cop, but Finlay's first priority is preventing her family from sleeping with the fishes...and if that means bending a few laws then so be it.

With her next book's deadline looming and an ex-husband to keep alive, Finlay is quickly coming to the end of her rope. She can only hope there isn't a noose at the end of it.
