The latest Outlander book --- This story was way too slow and could easily have been cut by half.
TRUE COMPASS - Too glossy and self-serving in spite of the fact that I liked Sen Kennedy.

WHERE MEN WIN GLORY by Jon Krakauer
FACE OF BETRAYAL by Lis Wiehl
THE LIKENESS by Tana French

The Help

I waited weeks on a hold list at the library to read THE LOST SYMBOL. Although the research and information about the Masons was astounding, I felt the book was too much like Brown's first two books to stand on its own
Gretchen
Rebecca Wells's new selection. It's too simple in theme as well as style. Not up to her Ya-Ya standards.
Carol
THE HELP. I think I'm one of three people who didn't like this. The characters just didn't seem real to me and I gave up 50 pages in. Maybe I'll try again later.
Estelle Belkin
Pat Conroy: SOUTH OF BROAD
Neither my husband nor I could finish this book, and the author has long been a favorite of ours.
Mary Ann Rosas
THE LOST SYMBOL --- the ending was a cop out.

THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PEEL PIE SOCIETY was a major letdown for me. I thought is was basically a romance novel. I would rather have had more focus on Elizabeth and Christian. 3 stars
THE BRIEF WONDROUS LIFE OF OSCAR WAO was another that really disappointed. I just could not get into the book. The footnotes on Dominican history, the many references to science fiction, and the rough language just turned me off. 2 stars
ONCE ON A MOONLESS NIGHT by Dai Sijie. I absolutely love BALZAC AND THE LITTLE CHINESE SEAMSTRESS but this book was very disappointing. Completely disjointed. I can't even begin to describe it. The few poetic phrases earn it 1 star out of 5 possible.
Dara Montgomery
Julie and Julia
Twlight
Sue
A Gate at the Stairs
Jerri Patton
Stones Into Schools
Karen Bader
Fearless Fourteen
J. Mitchell
THE PIANO TEACHER by Janice Y.K. Lee

HOTEL ON THE CORNER OF BITTER AND SWEET by Jamie Ford
TRUE DETECTIVES by Jonathan Kellerman

THE LOST SUMBOL by Dan Brown
THE PHYSICK BOOK OF DELIVERANCE DANE by Katherine Howe
Barry Bennett
Dan Brown's THE LOST SYMBOL. Because of the religious controversy following ANGELS AND DEMONS and THE DA VINCI CODE, it seemed that he tried to make up for it in the last few chapters of this book. Simply not a good ending.
Elizabeth V
HER FEARFUL SYMMETRY by Audrey Niffenegger
Karen M. Coulson
Our book group is reading biographies for 3 months and these were some I read and was a little disappointed in:
LAST WORDS by George Carlin,
ALWAYS LOOKING UP by Michael J. Fox, and
FALLING LEAVES by Adeline Yen Mah.
Joan Q. Zurolo
U is for Undertow
The Gift
The Diary
Windfall
Why My Third Husband Will Be a Dog
Betty
ROUGH COUNTRY by John Sandford
Silvia
THE LACUNA by Barbara Kingsolver
Jane Haase
ROSES --- just a glorified Fern Michaels novel. All the hype about it being like GONE WITH THE WIND must be coming from someone who has not read the book.
MsAnnie
I think THE LOST SYMBOL was just awful: boring, banal and a waste of time and money.
I also think that James Patterson has officially run out of ideas, I don't see myself picking up anything by either of these authors anytime soon (if ever).
Kathy Vieira
Sadly, I'd have to say BRIDGE OF SIGHS by Richard Russo. Although our book group loves Mr. Russo, we were disappointed in this one.
Fran
The entire Twilight series.
EAT, PRAY, LOVE... boring.
Terri Loeffler
HER FEARFUL SYMMETRY by Audrey Niffenegger
Joan
THE LACUNA by Barbara Kingsolver
Cindy
WITCH & WIZARD by James Patterson and Gabrielle Charbonnet
Serena
THE ELEGANCE OF THE HEDGEHOG (didn't finish it)
Gail
STONES INTO SCHOOLS by Greg Mortenson --- I was riveted to his first book, THREE CUPS OF TEA and couldn't wait to read the continuation of the story. I am having trouble getting through this one and am finding it difficult to read. The message is still there --- the war on terror can be won through education --- but the writing style makes it difficult to follow.
Michelle
THE LACE READER by Brunonia Barry --- I have read 20 chapters and I am still lost. I couldn't get into CHANGE OF HEART by Jodi Picoult either and I love everything else by her.
