No 1 LADIES DETECTIVE AGENCY was amongst the mysteries at B&N before anyone was ever talking about it. Different publisher and all!!
THE SHADOW IN THE WIND struck my eyes with the book cover and the title, and after reading a few pages I was hooked --- again, before the critics came to decide that it was one of the best books written at the time. I told all of my friends about it and they all loved their new "find".
THREE by Ted Dekker is not as popular a book as the others but it struck my fancy because of the backwards "E" that made a "3" in the title. It was in the Christian section and I expected to find a good, but simple, story, but when I began reading the first few pages, I spent the next 2 hours in the store before I could stop reading long enough to purchase and come home.
All three authors have become favorites of mine and I cannot wait for the coming for Zafón's follow up book. I actually took his class on B&N and his personality is as great as his writing --- and he composes and plays spectacular music also. I was lucky enough to receive his "advertising" CD for the music he composed for SHADOW IN THE WIND --- and I must say he could fill an auditorium of music lovers if that were the line of artistry that he chose to pursue. Forget "Britain's Got Talent" --- go for California/Spain (depending on where he is lining at the present time) Has Talent and just give Zafón the trophy already. he does it all!
