THE FOREST LOVER by Vreeland is one of those books that will remain with you forever. Some small reminder during a day, or a word familiar to the book will take you to the world of Emily Carr.

THE SOBS OF AUTUMN'S VIOLINS by A. R. Homer. A wonderful story of WW II. This story is about D-Day and the 2 weeks preceeding it. The title is part of the poem read over Paris radios when the Allies were landing.

What are you talking about? What do you mean "characters'? Characters in a book or scribble-scrabble? You know, some of us have just about had it with this new junk technology. Is the world a better place? Darwin had it wrong; It's devolution not evolution. I'll look at the stars.

I think I'd like to spend the summer with Harry Potter, Hagrid, Hermonie, and company. What better companions for lazy, long summer days?

THE HELP by Kathryn Stockett. Read it and you will rethink the turbulent Civil Rights movement. It gives the viewpoint of the domestic help and the society ladies of the times. It is both humerous and thought provoking.

ADAM --- like two books in one. Abductions, abuse, murders, news paper updates. A certain eye opener. A very sobering and truthful ending. One of Dekker's best.

Lois Cairl
WOLD TOTEM by Jaing Rong will leave you with an understanding of the Mongols of the past and the China of the future. Total fascination as though you are living through it.

Linda M. Johnson
THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO: Dante falsely imprisoned. Father dies. Fiancé forsakes. Wealthy prisoner schools. Escapes to fortune and revenge. Enchants and avenges enemies. Torn loyalties.

I just finished THE STORY OF EDGAR SAWTELLE by David Wroblewski. It was the best book I've read so far this year. The first 30 pages are slow going, but after that, it is hard to put down. I missed the obvious connection to Hamlet until the end, but the story is wonderful without that connection.
