Regina
GONE WITH THE WIND by Margaret Mitchell

Lavonne Morrell
The Pillars of the Earth

Sharon W.
TAI-PAN, SHOGUN, LONDON, and SARUM, all of which were very long. I personally don't like thin books as a rule; the more pages, the more one can be transported!

F Tessa Bartels
I don't typically count pages, but (not counting college texts) I think both Katharine Graham's autobiographical PERSONAL HISTORY and John Kennedy Toole's CONFEDERACY OF DUNCES certainly seemed like the longest!

Jan Atkins
WORLD WITHOUT END by Ken Follet, and I didn't want it to end!

ATLAS SHRUGGED by Ayn Rand

Gary
LONESOME DOVE by Larry McMurtry unless the Lord of the Rings Trilogy counts.

AGAINST THE DAY by Thomas Pynchon *seemed* like the longest book I ever read.

Valerie F

The longest book I've ever read was THE BEST AND THE BRIGHTEST by David Halberstam, which is over 800 pages. In this book, Halberstam addresses the events that led the United States into the Vietnam War, and the advice given by cabinet members who were judged to be "the best and the brightest." I was assigned this for a college class back in the 1970s. It seemed daunting at first, but turned out to be a very worthwhile read. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has the time and commitment to read it.
