What is your reading resolution this year?

Dodalodle from Beautiful British Columbia
Every year, I try to read more books than I did the previous year, and also to read new authors that I have never read before.

Mary Burke
To read more classics and fewer bestsellers.

Diane
To always finish my book club selection on time, and to read the New Testament.

Sandi
To read more and more and more!

Lee
To tell myself that it is OK to stop reading a book if I don't like it! There are too many great books out there to waste my time on ones that I have to force myself to finish.

Mo
My goal for the year is to keep a log of what I read, which I used to do on a regular basis. I lost track of it in September, after logging every book I'd read for over three years.

Heather M
My resolution is to take more time to myself and read more books. Maybe I'll try some nonfiction, but I will definitely read more.

Annika Stowe
I would like to decrease my TBR pile by reading books on my shelf and avoiding acquiring more until I've made a dent. We'll see how well that goes :)

Michelle Miller
To read more. I'd like to read 100 pages a day of fiction, and to read more nonfiction.

Suzanne
My resolution is the same as it is every year....to read at least one book a week. I read 58 in 2006. Also, I'd like to read or reread a few of the classics too.

Krishna
Last year's goal was to read 150 books, and I ended up reading 152. This year, though, I'll have to cut it back to 100 since there is so much going on. I'm also going to try to read more nonfiction or general fiction instead of just Sci-fi and mystery.

Peggy Kincaid
I want to read more nonfiction. I have read several great books during the last half of 2006, and I realize that I've neglected that part of my reading.

Antoinette Tomasich
To read more classics.

Patty Blackwell
My resolution is to try to read the books I received at Christmas, as well as more of the books on my shelves, so I can pass them on to others and replace them with new ones.

Shirley Burke
To continue reading and listening to books I find interesting and the books picked by our book club.

Louise Pledge
To read one book every two days.

Sandi
For the past several years I have set reading goals, such as reading varied genres (personal reading, professional reading and children's lit--I am an educator) I then determine base amounts in each category and come up with a minimum total for the year. It keeps me varied and focused. I also set summer reading goals. Some years I meet and/or exceed them, some years not. I also keep a reading journal, which helps me remember which authors and books I like for future choices.

Eileen Stone
I like to listen to a new book each week, but I usually have time for only half the book. My resolution is to keep doing this, and to not fall behind in my reading,

Billie McHam
To diversify and read as many books as possible.

Cathy Doyle
To "try" to catch up, which is not easy considering all the new releases and new Authors I get introduced to through Bookreporter. But, it's so much fun trying!

NMc
Read read read!!!!!

Mary Angela Young
My reading resolution is to read more nonfiction this year.

Vickie
To read all the books that I bought last year!

Dianne Hall
FInd time to read for pleasure and keep up with my book group selections as I continue in my intensive pursuit of my graduate degree in READING! In August, I will complete my studies! YEA!

Corky Mayo
My New Year's reading resolution is to read "outside the box" --- in other words, outside my favorite genre, and thus, comfort zone! Scary thought!

Whitney
Read more (obviously)! Visit the local library more.

Katie Dean
To gain a deeper appreciation of the imagination and skill that is invested in composing a book.

Michelle Miller
Looking back at my reads of 2006, I noticed a great amount of chick-lit and children's lit, so all and all, it was a pretty fluffy year. This year I resolve to read a few more literary tomes, with at least one hard-to-tackle lengthy classic, plus a few more nonfiction items and perhaps one or two self help-y types.

Wanda Stevens
I want to write a book of my own.

Stella
Read more books, and perhaps some biographies. Also, read some all-time favorites again that I might have hurried through the first time.

Sandy Greathouse
Read more books this year!

Donna
To read at LEAST a book a month!

Allison Bernstein
My reading resolution is to not feel obligated to finish a book I am not enjoying.

Phyllis
To read all the books on my nightstand, and to read a few (two?) classics.

Renee
To read more books from my TBR piles!!!!!

Beth Cummings
To read a few classics as well as new fiction. I would also like to join a new book group.

Sue
I want to branch out and discover some new authors. I tend to stick with certain authors and read everything they write.

Robin Schmidinger
To read more! On my list are biographies/autobiographies of our first ladies. Plus, I'd also like to read what I have instead of just buying more (yeah right!)

Bev Uebel
To read a minimum of 4 books each month and discover new authors.

Sue
My resolution is the same as last year's --- that is, to read more of the classics that I never read in my youth. How did I ever get through school without reading these books? I have always been an avid reader, but somehow missed a lot of great books. I read quite a few last year and want to read even more this year, while keeping up with my favorite authors of today.

Jen Lalley
I want to read 200 books this year. I read 164 in 2006.

Susan
To actually read the books and not just store them on the shelf.

To read more books!! I have a huge to-be-read pile and need to start making it smaller.

Lindy
I will try to read 3 books a week instead of 2.

Jeanette F. Milliner
To read at least three books each month.

Carlita Beltz
After I read the question I realized I have never made a reading resolution. It's probably because I am always reading and happy with my favorite pastime. Other areas in my life require resolutions!

F Tessa Bartels
To keep track of all the books I read. I got a book journal for Christmas.

Dena
I don't make resolutions.

John W. Cook
To find time to read a lot more than I did in '06.

Wilma Frana
My reading resolution is to read even more books than I did last year.

Loretta Sanford
More reading, less time on the computer. Reading is so much more enjoyable.

Barbara
Read at least 1 book a week, in different genres.

Tish Obal
I resolve NOT to read 4-5 books at the same time, and just stick to one fiction and one nonfiction at a time!!!

Helene Simpson
To read a book each week.

Kelly
To read 35 books this year.

Walter Brasch
To help assure that the PATRIOT Act is diminished so others may be able read, write, publish, and sell without fear of the Administration sacrificing our First Amendment rights.

Sheila Kahn
To read more nonfiction.

Lillian Porter
I plan to read two books from my Mt. TBR for every book that I buy or borrow in 2007. Maybe that way, Mt. TBR might decrease.

Robyn Hawk
To find new authors and genres --- I have been experimenting with Sci Fi & Fantasy and now I am even listening to books in my car...I find it keeps me more relaxed in traffic!

Linda M.
I read 120 books last year, so my goal for this year is to top that number, even if it's only 121.

Kathy Vieira
My resolution is to finish more of the books I start, and in a timely manner. I also want to FINALLY get all my books into my bookcase in the right order.

Jonathan
Read at least 20% of the books that I buy. Somehow, my extreme addiction to reading has been exceeded by my addiction to buying new books to read. Too little time, too many books....

Aislinn Evans
This year, I'm going to try really hard to finish one book before I start another. This is better than last year when I tried to only buy one book at a time.

Kim Kovacs
To read more books than I buy!

Libby Osburn
To make a dent in (read) all of those books I've purchased in the past and haven't gotten to yet. And, to stop taking out books from the library until I've read those I've bought.

Cori
To read a book a month. It seems very easy, but I am so busy that I have been slacking. :( I used to read a book a week, and this past year I think I only got through 4.

Melissa Saam
Read more! So many books, so little time.

Brenda
I actually have three this year:

1.) Read at least 40 books.
2.) The above number includes finishing 19 books that I had started in the past but never finished for one reason or another.
3.) Read at least one book slowly and really absorb it.

Sharon Bryan
To buy all the books by my favorite authors this year, and that is a lot because they all are coming out with new titles this year, some with an entire series.

Patti D.
To take a little more time for reading and to select different authors.

Nunu In Niagara
My reading resolution for 2007 is to read more, and to find new authors to add to my reading list. Bookreporter is a great place to find new authors and read about their books.

jean utley
Last year, I was on track to beat my best book-reading year (300), when I got slammed in the hospital on Dec 12 with an infection in my leg, lots of pain, and a complete lack of desire to do anything. I did finish 301 books that year, but I'd like to try to read a book a day during 2007.

Linda Cassidy
To actually read more, and to read more varied genres. I get stuck on mysteries.

Linda M. Johnson
My reading resolution is to read from a book every day. I'd like to read 100 books by the end of the year.

Josephine
To review even more books as a reviewer for BookLoons.com than the last two years, which has been a lot!!!

bonnie szul
To try new mystery authors, and possibly win some Advance Reader books. I always enter, but never win.

JHC Peterson
Like the Energizer Bunny, my resolution is just to keep on enjoying reading. This will be a snap to keep.

Louanne
I hope to read at least 1-2 chapters from my pile of books every day.

Olivia
To read even more books, and to vary my selections --- more nonfiction and memoirs.

Debbie
To find more time to read.

Lindsey Hedrick
To slow down and enjoy the reading instead of racing to see the ending.

My reading resolution is to read the many unread books on my shelf, and a few new ones. I tend to buy so many books, and I need to read what I have before buying anymore.

Larry Kilmer
I will read 3 new books a week during 2007. I read 148 new books in 2006 --- not for a "count", but because I wanted to read each one. Retirement is wonderful!

Lynda East
I want to read more thoughtfully so that I can articulate the reasons why I enjoy, or dislike, a book. I'd also like to read more nonfiction.

To read a book every other day, whenever possible.
