What book character would you most like to meet and why?
HEATHER PALERMO
I would love to meet Eve Dallas of the In Death series from JD Robb. She is a strong woman, considering everything she's been through. She won't give up until she gets the truth.
Heather Murdock
I would love to meet Det. Lindsey Boxer, a character from James Patterson, because I think she is a hard worker and a very loyal friend. And, she is very intelligent.
Beverly Rowe

Pattie Berryhill
Stephanie Plum --- she sounds like someone I would like to hang with.
Paul Eccles
Christ: How wonderful it would be to sit and talk with the master for an hour. On the other hand, that is why we have the Bible.
Melodie
Spenser. You gotta love a guy who has his sense of humor, can cook, and is a tough guy to boot!
Linda M. Johnson
Jo March from LITTLE WOMEN. I feel like we are kindred souls. I've always wanted my very own garret. We both bristle at conventions we feel are foolish or riduculous. We've both gotten along better with the opposite sex as friends. We've both had a fondness for teaching and writing.
Jana Harver
Kay Scarpetta - She would be fascinating to talk with. She is very intelligent and probably attractive. I would just like to see if she matches my imagination.
Michelle Miller
I would have to say Lestat, the beloved vampire character in Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. Rice is my favorite writer and in Lestat she has created the perfect blending of an evil character with redeeming qualities. The only downside to meeting him would be that he might make me a vampire. But maybe that wouldn't be so bad --- I would never die and I could read all the books I wanted forever.
vee
Stone Barrington (from Stuart Woods books) because he's hot.
Karen
Stephanie Plum, most definitely! Hopefully accompanied by Lulu, Joe and Ranger!
Diana Abshire
Ragoczy St. Germain from Chelsea Quinn Yarbro's historical vampire series. He's wordly, intelligent, kind; a unique character versed in alchemy and other forgotten arts.
Ann Wright
The grown-up Anne of Green Gables. I felt as a girl that she was a "kindred" spirit.
Kristi Hartshorn
Owen Meany
A PRAYER FOR OWEN MEANY remains one of my all-time favorite books. Owen was a character who stayed with me long after I finished the book.

Jay Gatsby from THE GREAT GATSBY. Jay was a romantic, yet very mysterious. I think he was good hearted and knew how to throw a great party!! I also like the time period.
Sheila Augustine
I would love to meet Vivi Walker, from the Ya Yas series by Rebecca Wells. The Ya-Ya values of unconditional loyalty, high style, and Cajun sass shine throughout the books. Vivi seems like a person who would give me good honest answers about life and it's challenges.
Elizabeth Saurer
Scarlett O'Hara --- just to see how her life turned out. i just like her way of saying 'tommorrow's another day.'
William P. Therrien
Lee Child's, Jack Reacher. He puts the "M" in Macho, but doesn't have to prove it by sleeping with every woman he meets. Like myself, trouble finds him, not the other way around. He uses his "talents" appropriately, always for justice. Just can't get enough of his ventures!!! I'd make sure there are a few fresh pots of high-grade coffee available!!!
Patricia Hoel
I would like to meet Einstein, the talking, extremely intelligent Golden Retriever from Dean R. Koontz's THE WATCHERS. Who wouldn't? Besides the obvious, most dogs are better than most people!
J. Ross
I would like to meet Janet Evanovich's character, Stephanie Plum. No doubt she would take me to her parents' house for dinner. To see her interact with her family would be a joy, especially Grandma Mazur. Stephanie has a wonderful sense of humor, no matter how bad the circumstances.
Nunu In Niagara Canada
I think I would like to meet Jacob from WATER FOR ELEPHANTS by Sara Gruen. At 93 years of age, he could teach so much to the younger generation. He had a traumatic childhood but went on to make an honest living and to meet so many interesting people that brought out his true personality. He was feisty, honest, and a good judge of character.
Steven Carter

Liz

Sandy Benson
Atticus of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD ---what a wonderful lawyer and man.
Penny
Roarke from JD Robb Books - I'm a romantic at heart, and he's the dreamiest guy Nora Roberts has every created. We get to read about him every time she writes a new In Death book.
Peggy
Stephanie Plum. She is simply the funniest and most lively character from a mystery and she attracts such interesting people so I'd know that being with her for even a few hours would be a real E ticket ride.
This was a tough question because there are so many characters to choose from, but for summer, it would have to be Stephanie.
Becky
Stephanie Plum. She is such a goof that I would enjoy meeting her and all of the other crazed characters in the series. I envision Sandra Bullock playing the role of Stephanie if the series is ever turned into movies.

Patricia Blackwell
I'd like to meet Temperence Brennan because I find her life and work intriguing, and, in some small ways, familiar. I worked in Mortuary Affairs in the US Air Force years ago, and worked with search and recovery, personal effects, benefits, prep and burial. I also worked with the Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, especially regarding a case near Rockingham. It was physically and mentally exhausting for all involved. I very well understand Brennan's hard work and long hours, and its effects on her interpersonal relationships both at work and at home in such a detail-oriented career field.
Sue Wilkinson
Kay Scarpetta --- She seems so real and smart, plus she's a great cook. I'd love to trade recipes with her.

Definitely Archy McNally. I'm a 45 year old woman who has never been nor ever will be married. But for Archy, I would. He's witty, his fashion sense is great. Ahhhhhh, his love of food, drink, and women!
Ann
Either Joe Morelli or Ranger from Janet Evanovich's book series. Not anyone deep, wise or inspirational, just some great ficticious hunks.
John
Ignatius Reilly, from A CONFEDERACY OF DUNCES, just to hear his hilarious insight on everything.
Carolyn Bright
Kate Shugak
Linda M. Williams
Dave Robicheaux (sp) of the James Lee Burke series. I would like to meet him because he has been an alcoholic all his life, is now recovering. He has been a cop, good guy, bad guy, just about everything. His character fascinates me.
Debbie Tomlin
Patricia Potter's Ian Sutherland in STARFINDER. In spite of his hardships and losses he was able to sympathize, empathize and have compassion for others. In spite of being born a wealthy landowner, he was able to start over when faced with the loss of everything, save his life. As an indentured servant/slave, he took responsibility for his work.

Janice Toppen
Stephanie Plum from Janet Evanovich's series. I really relate to her.
Nan Rubey
I would want to meet ALL the characters in Tara Janzen's Crazyseries.
They are richly drawn characters, vibrantly alive, with human frailities, filled with honor, loyalty and duty.
These are men and women I would want for friends. I want to live next door to them. LOL.
Tara's characters LIVE life, no holds barred. They have few illusions about life, yet face each day filled with the desire to do their best. They respect each other, accept each other, care about each other. They work thru personal tragedies with quiet determination and accept that life isn't always fair.
I have never read any books in which the characters touched me so quickly and deeply. I highly recommend Tara Janzen and herCrazy... The Mission series, and the people she brought to life within them.

Edna King-Miller
I think I would like to meet Anna Pigeon, Nevada Barr's Park Ranger. She has a job that should be ordinary, but she winds up with all kinds of adventures, and misadventures in many different national parks. She's also not a conventional person in her lifestyle and relationships.
Cathy
Without a doubt, Dave Robicheaux --- the rough and tough, often tormented guy with a tender spot for home, family and friends. I fell in love the first time I read BLACK CHERRY BLUES set in the bayous of Louisiana...who could resist?
Kellie
Joe Morelli and Ranger in the Stephanie Plum series. I bet they are hot!
Brenda Snell
Ranger from the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich.
She makes him sound so intriguing...

Judith
Kinsey Milhone
First, because I'd be in my teens again. Secondly, there would be no proliferation of obnoxious cell phones. And simply, because Kinsey is the coolest of the cool.
Barbara Smith
Eve and Roarke from J. D. Robb's books because I think they are facinating characters and would love to get to know them better.
Patricia Mead
Alexander Belov from THE BRONZE HORSEMAN by Paullina Simons
Carrie Hosozawa
I'd love to meet Sue Grafton's Kinsey Millhone! She is the only character I've been a faithful follower of anf I'm dying to see the nail clipper haircut and the balled up dress she whips out when needed. I'm sure we'd be fast friends! She cracks me up and her romantic history mimics my own. I feel like I know her!

Sharon Bryan
Anita Blake from Laurell K. Hamilton's novels.
Dennis
Gus Mccrae from LONESOME DOVE
Dorothy Halligan
Emily Carr from THE FOREST LOVER by Susan Vreeland. She was a liberated woman before her time. Unfortunately, she had to trade any personal life for her art. Her care and exclusive interpretation of the totems and the culture of the British Columbian Indians brought me to a level of admiration I've never felt for a character before. Even though this is fiction, Emily Carr is real and so is her art. It can be seen online and in the museum baring her name in Vancouver.
Nana Hawkins
I would like to meet many characters from books, but the one I'd like to meet most of all is Novalee Nation from WHERE THE HEART IS. She is an amazing woman who makes lemonade out of the lemons life gives her, to use a cliche that happens to work. She is a strong person, with traits that I hope to develop soon. I would like to be a strong person like her.

My favorite book character and the character I would most like to meet is Cinderella. She is a good, sweet wholesome girl who is obedient but mistreated. She wins in the end by attending the ball looking beautiful, and her dreams come true. It would be fun to meet her and talk to her about her wonderful experience.
Alyson Widen
Jo from LITTLE WOMEN
Vivian
I Just finished SUMMER AT WILLOW LAKE by Susan Wiggs. I'd like to meet Connor Davis --- he sounds like a really good person and can read Olivia well.
Donna Scott
Jan Burke's leading lady, Irene Kelly, because she's smart, honorable, courageous, loyal and never forgets a friend. (She's even successfully married to a character from her first book!) Jan Burke doesn't frivolously kill off known characters to make room for new ones, but lets us continue to savor their reappearances (or their memories). Irene just keeps getting better and more interesting. She's very real...enough to want to meet :)
Nancy
Margaret Hughes in BROKEN FOR YOU by Stephanie Kallos.
