That would be WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN by Lionel Shriver. Kevin Katchadourian committed a mass murder at his high school. Through his mother's letters to her estranged husband, we learn about Kevin's life from his birth to the terrible massacre. The mother, Eva, is trying to understand her son, and more importantly her part in making Kevin the way he was. The ending was shocking, and I don't think you will see it coming. Really couldn't put it down!!
