Diane
I have no favorite place, I look for books everywhere --- bookstores, museums, discount stores, the Internet, and even book clubs, yard sales, and flea markets. I leave no stone unturned when it comes to finding a good book to read.
Angela Thibeau
Barnes and Boble

I usually shop at Borders. I also buy books online from various sites. I shop for books using literary magazines like Bookmarks, and also readng on your site every week for recommendations.
Peggy Kincaid
Well, that would have to be Borders. That is where I look for all the new books and can wander through the paperbacks row after row. They also have a good selection of magazines to peruse. I do miss the Independent booksellers but have to admit that, for me, Borders is much better than say Barnes and Noble as it is easier to find what you are looking for and find new books that I really love.

A bookstore with comfortable chairs to lounge about and decide between a good selection.

I buy most of my books at used book sales sponsored by the Friends of the Library here in Nashville. My branch has a sale every second Saturday of the month and I never miss it. I also buy books at thrift stores --- usually when they are having a half price sale because they price them too high. Finally, I am a member of various book clubs and I order books from them a lot. I also buy sometimes from online sites such as alibris or amazon.
Linda M. Johnson
My favorite place to shop for books is thrift stores. I even recently found a copy of Mary Higgins Clark`s latest book, TWO LITTLE GIRLS IN BLUE.
Frankie Edenzon
Barnes and Noble in Newport News, Virginia - I love the selection, the staff is helpful, and there is a cafe for coffee. Also, the Barnes and Noble in Short Pump, Virginia, is nice.
Mrs. Heather Gill
I buy most of my books from Big W or Kmart as you get them cheaper than a bookstore like Dymocks. If I have trouble finding a book, I than go online and buy from whatever place that has the book I am looking for.
Dave Dornbush
My current favorite place to shop for books is Book Warehouse in Newton, KS. Yes, it is a bargain outlet, but they have so many titles in all categories, and especially fiction. I can always find something there. If I am looking for a particular older title, I usually find it there. It is always well stocked and there is a vast choice of genres, which I like. They are not pushy with sales promotions, but are helpful and available if needed, which I like. When I go there, even just to browse, I always end up with 3 to 5 books I buy. Although they do not carry brand new titles, they do sell fairly recent bestsellers. For instance, I recently say Anne Rice`s latest, CHRIST THE LORD there, and I was delighted. It is a great mixture of books, current and older, without the pressure sales tactics of Borders or Barnes & Noble, and the prices are phenomenal.
Amy Gross
I like to go to the library when they have a used book sale.
Bob Hartzo
Books-A-Million, Walmart, and used bookstores.
Jacki Robertson
I do most of my shopping online at used book sites. That makes it more affordable to buy more books. My next favorite place is Half Price Book Store.
Marilyn Shoemaker
New and Previously Owned Books
Can find new and used books, reviews, interviews, contests and prompt shipment.
Connie Tritt
Barnes & Noble in person, or Amazon.com on the computer.
Kristina
My favorite place is Barnes and Noble. We just got one so it`s brand new! I love it when I am so entranced inside while I`m browsing that I lose track of time!
Kristi Hartshorn
I have to buy my books online, usually used from Amazon.com. They have good prices, and since I live in a small town without a book store --- the closest one is about an hour away --- this option works well for me, as well as for our book group.
Claire
I like to shop at Amazon. The price is usually right and you get the synopsis as well as all pertinent info. The best thing is there are usually reviews that clue you in on others` opinions rather than professional reviewers. It`s also easier to locate a less popular book and you don`t have to deal with disinterested or uninformed sales people.

Barnes and Noble!! Books + coffee = heaven!!
Marjorie Clark
I like to shop for books at yard and garage sales, or buy books offered on Craigslist.com.
Lea
My favorite place to shop for books is the Barnes and Noble store in the Short Pump area of Richmond, VA. It has a huge selection, a great coffee and tea shop, and very helpful employees.
E. Budd
The great public library here --- I could never afford to purchase all the books I read.
Judy Chipley
I live in a small town with the only bookseller being Walmart, so usually it is Amazon.com. But when we travel or go to Atlanta, give me Borders or Barnes & Noble on a rainy day and have my credit card handy, that is my idea of heaven.
Edward Garea
Amazon.com
It has all the scholarly releases other stores do not carry.
Sherri Caldwell
I must admit, I really like Amazon.com for the customer reviews, related book suggestions, and easy searching/comparison shopping (including Amz Marketplace for used books).
Merrilee
Barnes and Noble and Amazon: Amazon is easy and quick; B&N is a place to spend some time just walking around looking at titles and enjoying the feeling of books all around me.
Michelle Stein
Used book stores, and thrift shops - there is something about finding a copy of a book you have been wanting at a bargain price that is so satisfying.
I think the delight of finding something older by one of my favorite authors is a big part of my reading pleasure. When we go on weekend trips, I map out the local used book shops and thrift stores at our destinations.
Donna Ingalls
Everywhere we travel, I make it a point to vist out-of-the-way book shops. They are wonderful for finding out-of-print books and old copies of my favorite books.
I do purchase most of my books at the major chains, but try to stop at the small stores every opportunity I get.
Debbie Maskus
I love the Barnes & Noble stores and web site: they seem to display the books and provide a better atmosphere than other booksellers.
Ann
My favorite place to buy books is the thrift store. For .95 to $2.95 I can come home with great books that hardly look used. You have to take your chance, you can`t shop for a particular title. For specific books, I love Tattered Cover, the large independant bookstore Colorado is lucky to have. I especially love the nonfiction section.
Louise Keene
My favorite place to shop for books is at Barnes and Noble Books because I get to use my reader`s advantage card!
CK
Booksellers at The Bookshelf in Madeira (Cincinnati, OH) love to talk books --- they recommend titles, host discussion groups (with treats), attend book club meetings with a bag of good titles to share. None of the women ever seem rushed or too busy to share their latest find. A delightful shop!
Marlie Warren
I keep my ears and eyes open for good books through Newsletters that I get by email, like Bookreporter.com and BarnesandNoble.com, etc. Then, I like to go somewhere like amazon.com or zooba.com and purchase them. The`re so much cheaper that way than the alternative ways of buying at big box stores or chain bookstores. Sometimes you can actually get a used but perfect book for as little as one cent and the shipping is more, but STILL much less expensive than buying new! Makes sense to me!
Noel Troike
I buy a lot of hardcover books, 4 or 5 a week, and i love picking some up from Mystery Lovers Bookshop in Pittsburgh. I can`t buy all of them there since Amazon gives 36% off discounts, plus free shipping, which unfortunately the indies can`t touch.

A Thirsty Mind in Lakeway, TX: You can browse their selection of books, buy art, drink wine, attend trunk shows by local artists, author readings, or wine appreciation classes all in one friendly, well-organized and incredibly staffed stop! It`s a great place to spend an afternoon.
LaDonna Carrington
My favorite place to shop for books is Barnes & Noble.
Connie
I love this indie bookstore a bus ride away from me in this city of many bookstores. It smells like incense and lavender and there is water flowing and soft music. It`s colorful and quiet. The staff are sweet and conversant, if you want them to be or not. It`s lovely and brings me a sense of joy and peace. I usually find more than one book I`d never heard of before. It`s called East West Bookshop. I feel as if it`s a significant thread in my life`s tapestry (to be trite, but accurate).
Bev Haas
Barnes & Noble
Patti D.
I like to go to the library to get my books. It`s free and even if I get a fine, it still is cheaper than buying.
Fred Vanderbilt
In NYC, The Strand and the Gotham Book Mart.
Clare Golub
Barnes & Noble
Libby Kessman
The Strand bookstore and the Coliseum bookstore, both in NYC. I also use Amazon.com at times. However, since I`ve run out of room in my apartment for books, I mostly use the public library!
Beth Cummings
My favorite place to shop for books is really any well-stocked bookstore, chain or independent. I enjoy browsing and I especially like it if they have a coffee shop in the store where I can stop and have frappacino or a chai tea while I make up my mind on my purchase. I especially like the Fargo, ND Barnes & Noble because it was the first large chain bookstore that I really became acquainted with.
Margaret Nance
I live in a small town with only one book store, Books-A-Million. It is a wonderful store. If they do not have the book you are looking for they will gladly order it. There is a great independent book store (McIntyres) at Fearrington Village near Durham. I just can`t get there very often.

I love going to mom and pop bookstores. They are so cozy and seem to have a lot of interesting items, both current and from the past. It gives me that down-home feeling.
Maureen
Borders is my favorite place --- especially with their Rewards program and so many coupons --- you can`t beat their prices.
Kellie Smith
Amazon.com
They have everything and I always take advantage of the $25 + no shipping special. Plus, you receive your books in a reasonable amount of time.
Karen Eller Baker
My favorite place used to be Amazon.com, but they have lost my support because of their free shipping, HA. On April 13, I placed an order large enough to qualify for free shipping. They advised me I would recieve it around July 10. The following week I place another other and paid for my shipping. I ordered on Monday, and recieved on Thursday. This just goes to prove nothing is free. Now I like Barnes and Noble as well as Borders.
Marie
I have to say, I do enjoy shopping at the big chain bookstores. Almost weekly, I find myself in either a Barnes & Noble or Borders (I have memberships to both) and I can spend hours perusing what I`m interested in for myself and for others. Books, DVDs, and music are my number 1 gifts lately and I can get them all, including cards and gift wrap, all in a relaxed atmosphere. To top it off, I can also treat myself to a latte while I shop! If we haven`t anything to do on a Saturday night, my kids will say, "Let`s go to the book store!" When we arrive, the 4 of us go in 4 different directions. It`s great fun seeing what excites each of us.
Heather
When I do purchase a book, I shop at either Barnes and Noble or Borders.
Lynn Ketelsen
Although I do love independents (especially the one in Nisswa, MN!) I stop myself from turning into any Barnes and Noble that I can find!
Ellen Whitney
Barnes and Noble - there are no Independent book stores in the area anymore, especially mysteries. For that, I shop by email at Muder by the Book, in Houston and Colorado, or High Crimes in Boulder, and Mystery Book Store in Los Angeles.
Dorothy Cowling
My favourite place to shop for books is the local Christian bookstore or at Chapters.

Online, either Amazon.com or eBay.
Kimberly Andrew
My absolute favorite place is any well stocked new book store. I also haunt the used book stores as that is all there is in my area. But, there is something special about a well-stocked book store, with all those shiny, new books everywhere.
Jean Vierig
I love the cozy atmosphere of Barnes and Noble and do most of my book buying there.

Once, when I was in college, I had the opportunity to go to Powell`s bookstore in Portland, OR. It was so large, you received a map when you walked in. I could`ve spent DAYS there, but I only had a few hours. I think I was in heaven.
