Which author (name up to 3) is a must-buy or must-borrow as soon as his or her book comes out?
TereseRose
Alice Sebold
Connie May Fowler
t_bergba@bellsouth.net
I have a lot more than 3 but here are my top three:
Michael Slade
Jeffery Deaver
Karin Slaughter
hagarrpt@earthlink.net
Peter Robinson
Robin Burcell
Ethan Black
Georgepaw@aol.com
John Sandford's books cannot be in my hands soon enough. No one writes better dialogue for his characters than Sandford. He never disappoints.
RBailleu@aol.com
J.K. Rowling. I am a Potter junkie. And Jan Karon's Mitford series.
Pigletstl@aol.com
I have several, but the following are definite:
Jodi Picoult. I am currently in the middle of reading all her books. I have finished several and it is interesting to see her work and skill evolve over time from her first novel to her more recent. I enjoy her style.
Lorna Landvik. She is also one of the authors I listed for an earlier question regarding my favorite comfort reads. So I always like to have one of her new books on hand.
Ann-Marie MacDonald. So far she has had only two prose fiction works, but I own and loved both.

Dorothea Benton Frank
Nicholas Sparks
Anne Rivers Siddons
CPitman141@aol.com
I make sure I pre-order books by James Patterson, Harlan Coben and Amy Krause Rosenthal, who is new but fabulous!
wurdplay@earthlink.net
James Patterson is an author who makes faithful readers run out and beg, borrow or steal his newest offering. If you do not read Patterson, well, you really should run out to your nearest bookseller and start a journey through his list of titles.
Patricia Cornwell is a must-buy, must-read, must-meet kind of author. She never, ever lets you down, even when making a departure from her Kay Scarpetta series.
GLev@aol.com
Nelson DeMille
Pat Conroy
J.K. Rowling

There is no doubt...there are two must-have authors: Faye Kellerman and Janet Evanovich.

The "must buy" names for me are Margaret Duffy, Patricia Sprinkle and Tim Downs

John Grisham books are a must-read or a must-borrow.
amyasb@comcast.net
Mary Higgins Clark
James Patterson
Jonathan Kellerman
Towandalhc@aol.com
Wally Lamb
Ruth Rendell
Margaret Atwood
Bookgranna@aol.com
As soon as they are available, I must read books by Margaret Atwood, Jodi Picoult, and Kitty Kelley ---- the first two because they without fail have a meaningful plot, interesting characters, and their writing style is without flaws. I read Kitty Kelley because my naughty, secret side truly loves a good gossip.

Laurell K. Hamilton
Janet Evanovich
J.D. Robb
NFrazelle@aol.com

I love the books by Daniel Silva and have to have them. I read them when they come out and have never been disappointed.
I also buy all the Leon Uris books, although he hasn't come out with anything new lately. He is one author who I can read and reread, especially his earlier books like The Haj and Trinity.
I have several favorites, so it is hard to narrow it down to three, but I will have to say Nelson DeMille, another author who has never disappointed me.
Oly4Coles@comcast.net
I must absolutely have the latest Michael Connelly. In fact, I purchased it from Audible the day they released The Closers and immediately downloaded it to my MP3 player and started to listen. I have also done that with his previous books.
John Lescroart and David Baldacci are among a list of other authors that I keep tabs on what is coming out, so that I may either reserve at our library or purchase to listen.

Wally Lamb writes eye magnet books, with sensitive insight, and humorous takes on personality quirks. I loved She's Come Undoneand I Know This Much is True.
Anne-Marie MacDonald is another writer who makes it difficult to get any sleep once you begin one of her stories. Fall on Your Knees and The Way the Crow Flies were impossible to put down. I also enjoy reading her books because they are among the few that I cannot guess what will happen next.
And last but certainly not least is Sena Jeter Naslund with Ahab's Wife. That book gives a boost to the female ego, and I'm looking forward to another adventure. I loved the book so much that I went and bought a ceramic lighthouse, because the main character lived in one.

With so many great authors out there, that is a tough decision, but I would definitely grab up anything new from Harlan Coben, Lisa Gardner and Nora Roberts.
ras-c@cox.net
The author whose books I would recommend jumping on as soon as they are released would have to be Adriana Trigiani. Her newest, Rococo, should hit the bookstores this June 21st, and I, like most others, need a good laugh. From the exerpt I've read it will be a lotta laughs delivered by an author who wrote comedy for "The Cosby Show" and who I think is a natural comedienne. Also, her books are well researched and informative as well as entertaining. I'll be first in line at Border's.
