A wide ranging three I agree but these authors represent for me a way to escape from the sometimes weary world of a mother of an 8-month-old son. Perez-Reverte handles his subject matter with finesse. Not overbearing with facts and numbers but he works it convincingly into the storyline. Smith because I just love Mma Ramotswe and her adventures. Makes me laugh out loud. Fforde because of the literary adventures of Thursday Next and how wonderful to be able to purchase vacations to "live" in your favorite novel for a time.

isang4joy@yahoo.com
I have so enjoyed the characters and substance of novels by Wally Lamb (I Know This Much Is TrueShe's Come Undone) that I am eager for his next work. The writings of Anna Quindlen (One True ThingLiving Out LoudBlack and Blue) have also shed new light on the human experience for me. But Richard Matheson (What Dreams May ComeBid Time Return) goes beyond substance and explores our spirit in a way that just captivates me. More please!
