Watch Where They Hide: A Jordan Manning Novel

Tamron Hall is the Emmy Award-winning host and executive producer of the nationally syndicated talk show "Tamron Hall." She also served as a co-anchor on the “Today” show for three years and hosted a powerful series on Investigation Discovery, “Deadline: Crime,” that lasted six seasons. It was this latter experience that served as the ideal impetus for her new role as a crime fiction writer.

In WATCH WHERE THEY HIDE, the second entry in Hall's Jordan Manning series, Marla Hancock dropped off her daughter at school one morning and has not been seen since. She has now been missing for several weeks, and her sister, Shelly Biltmore, seems to be the only one jumping up and down about this. Shelly firmly believes that Marla never would have taken off without her daughter, even though she recently had moved in with Shelly to get away from her abusive husband, Jim. Shelly’s pleas to the local P.D. fall on deaf ears as they seem to be leaning towards Marla having taken off rather than being the subject of a missing persons case.

"Tamron Hall shows veteran skill in plotting this tale. She keeps the clues coming and readers guessing right up to the eye-opening revelations during the highly satisfying finale."

It is at this point that Shelly contacts TV journalist and self-proclaimed “fixer” Jordan Manning. She is aware of Jordan’s reputation for getting to the bottom of tough cases that the police are unable to solve on their own. Shelly has not much proof to go on other than that she knows Jim has been abusive. She also is aware of a credit card charge supposedly made by Marla, but she's certain that it couldn’t have been her as Jim had frozen their accounts after she disappeared.

Jordan lets her producer know that she wants to follow this story, even though there is thin evidence currently available. She is allowed to pursue it but is reminded that it might not look good for the station to be involved in an investigation about a missing white woman when it is always alleged that cases involving minority women are pushed to the wayside. Jordan meets with Shelly but feels she is not telling her the whole story. After much prodding, Shelly admits something about Marla that she knows Jim will use against her and also might explain why the police are so reluctant to pursue this case.

Jordan continues to go down the rabbit hole on everything having to do with Marla, Jim, Shelly and any other lead that is uncovered. She also learns about the alleged existence of videos that not only show Marla at a liquor store the same day she disappeared, but also much later at an ATM attempting to make a withdrawal. Jordan and Shelly firmly believe that it could not have been Marla, especially the latter sighting. With the police still moving slowly, Jordan takes the case firmly into her own hands.

WATCH WHERE THEY HIDE plays out more like a detective novel than one featuring a crime journalist --- and that is due to the efforts of Jordan Manning to elevate any case she sinks her teeth into. Tamron Hall shows veteran skill in plotting this tale. She keeps the clues coming and readers guessing right up to the eye-opening revelations during the highly satisfying finale.
