Review

The Last to See Her

When Meg’s sister Gen goes missing, and Meg files a missing person’s report, she becomes the prime suspect. The officer in charge of the case points out that Meg was “the last to see her.”

Meg, a surgeon, plans to attend a conference in New York City and talks Gen into going with her. This will allow them to have some girl time together and talk about Gen’s upcoming divorce. The papers have been signed; they just need to be filed before it's official.

"Courtney Evan Tate starts with a solid premise and believable characters, and finishes with a great twist."

Following dinner and drinks, Meg and Gen, both of whom are tipsy, return to their hotel room. Trying to prove her apathy concerning her soon-to-be ex-husband, Gen yanks her diamond ring off her finger and tosses it over the balcony. She then grabs her coat, heads out the door for some fresh air and doesn’t come back.

The investigation uncovers secrets that Meg would rather keep under wraps. But she filed the report, the investigation is underway, and there is nothing she can do to stop it. What is revealed are lies and betrayals, between the sisters and their spouses, which will keep readers wondering what the real story is.

Courtney Evan Tate starts with a solid premise and believable characters, and finishes with a great twist. However, she peppers the text with too many overused phrases, and the conversations tend to be a bit stilted. Overall, though, THE LAST TO SEE HER is a captivating read that will have you hooked right up until the end.
