Paperback releases for the week of August 26th include DEPTH OF WINTER by Craig Johnson, which finds Sheriff Walt Longmire journeying into the northern Mexican desert alone to save his daughter, Cady; THE FERAL DETECTIVE, Jonathan Lethem’s first detective novel since MOTHERLESS BROOKLYN; Alan Bradley's THE GOLDEN TRESSES OF THE DEAD, a deliciously shocking mystery featuring Flavia de Luce, in which a finger in a wedding cake is only the beginning; ALL THE DIRTY PARTS, Daniel Handler's unblinking take on teenage desire in a culture of unrelenting explicitness and shunted communication; and QUARTERBACK, in which John Feinstein dives deep into the most coveted and hallowed position in the NFL --- exploring the stories of five top quarterbacks and taking readers inside their unique experiences of playing the position and holding the keys to their multi-billion-dollar teams.

Jonathan Lethem, author of The Feral Detective

Phoebe Siegler first meets Charles Heist in a shabby trailer on the eastern edge of Los Angeles. She’s looking for her friend’s missing daughter, Arabella, and hires Heist to help. A laconic loner who keeps his pet opossum in a desk drawer, Heist intrigues the sarcastic and garrulous Phoebe. Reluctantly, he agrees to help. The unlikely pair navigate the enclaves of desert-dwelling vagabonds and find that Arabella is in serious trouble --- caught in the middle of a violent standoff that only Heist, mysteriously, can end.
