The year is rapidly coming to a close, and we know you have a lot on your mind between Christmas shopping (for yourself and others), coming up with the perfect New Year's plans, finals, college applications (for some of you) and, of course, deciding what you'll binge-read over the break!

Paperback releases for the week of December 12th include EVEN DOGS IN THE WILD by Ian Rankin, which finds John Rebus coming out of retirement...to save his nemesis; MARLENE, C. W. Gortner's biographical novel of one of the most glamorous and alluring legends of Hollywood’s golden age, Marlene Dietrich; STORIES I TELL MYSELF, Juan F. Thompson's personal account of his father, Hunter S. Thompson, and of their getting to know each other during their 41 fraught years together; and THE LOVERS by Rod Nordland, the story of a young couple willing to risk everything for love that puts a human face on the ongoing debate about women’s rights in the Muslim world.

This month's Cool & New roundup includes WORD OF MOUSE by James Patterson, which tells the story of a mouse with blue fur who can read, write and talk to humans! Next up is a book that will be a favorite for all nonfiction readers and sports fans: ALL HEART, in which Carli Lloyd tells the inspiring story of how she became one of the world's biggest soccer stars. Last, but not least, we have the first installment of Aaron Blabey's newest book series, THE BAD GUYS, where Mr. Wolf, Mr. Piranha, Mr. Snake and Mr. Shark go on a series of adventures to try and become the "Good Guys."

The end of the year is nearly here and it's time for readers and booklovers everywhere to start deciding how they'll remember 2016. Did you read a bunch of different books from different genres and authors, or stick to a shorter, pre-decided list? Did you find a new favorite you weren't expecting? Readers and publications are all figuring out their "Best Of" lists and AudioFile, a magazine that reviews audiobooks, profiles narrators and is always the first to know about hot new listens, has compiled their list of the best YA audiobooks from this year!

Then we have the fifth installment of the Pegasus series by Kate O'Hearn, RISE OF THE TITANS, where Emily and Pegasus must venture to Hawaii in order to save Olympus. Finally we have the second book in James Riely's Story Thieves series, THE STOLEN CHAPTERS, which follows Owen, Kiel and Bethany as they confront secrets, stolen memories and some very familiar faces.
