While attending New York Comic Con, Teenreads was totally wowed by the awesome costumes people put together. Sure there were tons of Batmen and Wonder Women and even some monsters, but the coolest outfits were the ones that were both wearable and totally nerdy. Inspired by these trendy nods to fiction, we put together some outfits based on new YA releases that both guys and girls can wear.

Teenreads kicked off October in one of the best ways imaginable: heading to New York Comic Con, a celebration of all things bookish, nerdy and just plain awesome. Between editorial coordinator Rebecca Munro, interns Dana and Maya and reviewers Katherine and Matthew, we had a full team covering the panels, showroom floor and the whole atmosphere of the weekend. Click here for a quick overview of everyone's NYCC experience or read below for more in-depth coverage of the panels we all attended.

Several years ago, I read SHADOW AND BONE --- a YA high fantasy with some Russian flavor --- and fell in love with the world, but for some reason I never continued on with the series until recently, when I reread SHADOW AND BONE and binge-read the rest of the series this summer. When I saw that Leigh Bardugo was coming to The Strand in NYC for the launch of CROOKED KINGDOM, I knew that I had to buy tickets, despite not having read SIX OF CROWS yet --- I know, I am a shameful booknerd.

This September marks the 100th birthday of beloved author Roald Dahl. Dahl brought us masterpieces like CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH, THE BFG and our favorite bookworm, MATILDA --- all while teaching us the importance of creativity and imagination. In celebration of Dahl, we've been posting some gloriumptious blog posts every Tuesday of September to share with all of you Dahlphiles --- who are fluent in gobblefunk. For our first week, we started by sharing some fun facts about Dahl and his most popular books. For the second week, we decided to wish a gloriumptious birthday to the world's best storyteller himself by asking our Kidsreads reviewers and readers to tell us some of their favorite things about Roald Dahl. Last week, we let Dahl take over to tell us about himself in his own words, using excerpts from MORE ABOUT BOY, the follow up to Dahl's autobiography, BOY. This week, we decided to send our Kidsreads interns Amanda and Dana all over Manhattan on a taste-testing tour of soem Dahl-inspired treats. Read below to her more about their adventure --- and be prepared to hear your tummy growl at their beautiful photos. Thanks so much for celebrating this month with us! If you're not ready to stop partying, click here to head over to Roald Dahl's official website, where you can learn about upcoming celebrations and events across the country.

While I am an intern here at Teenreads, what started me on my publishing career path was book blogging. You can read about How I Became a Book Blogger and My Favorite Parts of Blogging here on the site.

On Sunday, I attended the first ever Blog Bound Con at the Jefferson Market Library here in NYC. I found the event through Twitter, which is always a great place to find events in your area.

I never intended to become a book blogger. It’s one of those things that just happened, but I couldn’t be more thankful for it. It sounds really cliched but it changed my life and set me on a different path.
