The K Team

David Rosenfelt's latest novel marks the beginning of an exciting new series. After 20 Andy Carpenter books, we are reacquainted with newly designated hero Corey Douglas and his K-9 partner, the amusingly named Simon Garfunkel, who were introduced in DACHSHUND THROUGH THE SNOW. Carpenter fans, fear not. Corey is just as funny, smart and charmingly naughty as our dog-loving defense attorney protagonist.

In THE K TEAM, Rosenfelt again demonstrates his prodigious talent for creating a main character who you will love and laugh with, and who is very good at solving complex and confusing crimes that mere mortals like you and me are entirely incapable of de-puzzling.

"THE K TEAM is a true page-turner, filled with wackiness, wit, charm and real suspense. Rosenfelt has done it again!"

Corey is a newly retired cop who teams up with a couple of characters from the previous series: the beautiful and brilliant Laurie, Andy's wife, who is also an ex-cop, and the mysterious, superhuman destruction machine, Marcus. Marcus is actually mysterious only in the sense that nobody except Laurie is capable of understanding what he says --- or grunts. But like his new partners, he is surprisingly and surpassingly brilliant.

The crime that engages this new investigation organization known as the K Team is a letter addressed to Judge Henry “Hatchet” Henderson, who has been a minor character in prior novels. The note smells of and reads like the first ingredient in a blackmail plot about to start boiling over, aimed directly at the judge. And it turns out to be just that. So Corey, Laurie and Marcus are hired to figure out who is blackmailing and intimidating him, and why they've picked him as the target.

As the investigation proceeds, the team is faced with the same kind of colorful, bizarre and fascinating characters and events that always fill Rosenfelt's mysteries. Murders, thefts, threats, good but flawed guys, bad and even more flawed guys, beautiful women (some strong, some fragile), comic characters like Andy's hacking expert, Sam Willis --- and, of course, an extremely important doggie hero.

THE K TEAM is a true page-turner, filled with wackiness, wit, charm and real suspense. Rosenfelt has done it again!
