The Christmas Boutique: An Elm Creek Quilts Novel

Sylvia Bergstrom Compson, the beloved co-owner of Elm Creek Manor, and her friends return in this 21st installment of the Elm Creek Quilts series. This time, they are asked to host the local Christmas boutique fundraiser event…and, of course, they do it with much enthusiasm and aplomb. The unique personalities of the characters truly shine through in this delightful new addition.

After seven years, Jennifer Chiaverini’s popular series has returned, and I could not be happier. I've read and loved each and every installment, and revisiting these characters in THE CHRISTMAS BOUTIQUE did not disappoint. It's difficult to believe that it's been 20 years (and 21 books) since THE QUILTER’S APPRENTICE was published. When I first started reading the series 16 years ago, I was inspired to organize and host my own crafting weekends for friends. We scrapbook instead of quilt. I’m proud to say that, just like the Elm Creek quilters, some of our members have come and gone, yet the group as a whole is still going strong. We continue to meet a few times a year, reveling in our shared love of crafting.

"If you haven't read the series yet, then what are you waiting for? A whole new world of likable characters and heartwarming stories awaits."

If you love this series as much as I do, then this new entry is a must read. Character recaps are included, and I was surprised by how much I remembered about each and every one of them. If you haven't read the series yet, then what are you waiting for? A whole new world of likable characters and heartwarming stories awaits.

Speaking of likable characters, dare I compare the Elm Creek Manor and its inhabitants to “Downton Abbey” and its beloved characters? Well, yes I will! Just like “Downton,” the manor has a rich history and has touched many lives. Fans will be as thrilled as I was to “visit” with so many of our favorite characters, including Sylvia and husband Richard Compson, Mary Beth Callahan, Gretchen Hartley, Sarah McClure and husband Matthew, Agnes Bergstrom Chevalier, Gwen Sullivan and daughter Summer, Diane Sonnenburg, and many more.

When I first received THE CHRISTMAS BOUTIQUE in the mail, I thought it was too early for me to enjoy a Christmas-themed book, but the heartwarming story quickly drew me in and made me change my mind. Revisiting the characters felt just like being home for the holidays --- cozy and warm, like a handmade Christmas quilt passed down from generation to generation. If only I owned a real quilt crafted by these lovely and talented women.
