Starry Night: A Christmas Novel

Carrie Slayton is tired of reporting on boring society events for the Chicago Sun-Times. Dressing up and attending social events with people who have more money than sense isn't her idea of a good time. What she longs for more than anything else is to report hard-hitting news stories that make a difference in the world. Unfortunately, she has been pigeonholed into her current position with no apparent way out.

When Carrie approaches her editor with her resignation, in a bid to get her to stay, he promises her that if she can secure an interview with bestselling survivalist author Finn Dalton, he'll promote her to front-page news stories immediately. Since Finn lives in the wilds of Alaska and refuses to participate in public relations of any kind, Carrie has her work cut out for her. Countless other reporters have been on Finn's trail for months to no avail. Why should it be any different for Carrie?

"Debbie Macomber...has penned a romantic story that will pull at your heartstrings with its holiday theme and emphasis on love and finding that special someone."

Fortunately, Carrie combines brains with determination and a dash of luck. The next thing she knows, she has arrived at Finn's cabin outside of Fairbanks, Alaska, where she is dropped off in the middle of a snowstorm. As angry as he is, Finn has no choice but to let the appealing reporter spend the night in his cozy cabin out of the raging elements. That doesn't mean he has to like it, though.

Overcome with nerves and self-doubt once she finds herself in Finn's presence, Carrie does her best to work herself into the good graces of her begrudging host. Over several games of cribbage and companionable conversation, Carrie manages to break the ice between them, and they cautiously become acquainted. Even so, Finn refuses to even entertain the idea of granting the official interview that Carrie can use to catapult her career to the next level.

When Carrie returns home to Chicago, she is determined to scrap the idea of writing the article, even though she has more than enough carefully garnered information about Finn. Even reaching the career pinnacle she has dreamt of isn't worth betraying Finn's trust or exposing the man she has come to esteem and admire.

Once apart, Carrie and Finn begin texting each other and talking on the phone, finding that it only strengthens their attraction to one another and the bond between them. Even across the distance, they long to be near one another in spite of the differences between them. Can a city girl and a wilderness man bridge the gap that distances them, or will they have to go their separate ways, trying hard to put their feelings behind them? As the stakes rise, it's up to the pair to decide just how much making their relationship works means to them and if they’re willing to sacrifice in order to be together.

Debbie Macomber, the prolific and beloved author of countless bestsellers, has penned a romantic story that will pull at your heartstrings with its holiday theme and emphasis on love and finding that special someone. Carrie and Finn are a sympathetic couple who will have readers easily rooting for them to get together --- and stay together --- for now and for always.
