After the Fall

Patricia Gussin’s newest release, AFTER THE FALL, takes readers on a fast-paced, gut-wrenching thrill ride. Those who haven’t read the first three novels in the Laura Nelson tetralogy will be rushing to the Oceanview Publishing website to secure copies of the previous installments once they finish the final page of her latest.

Gussin aptly pits surgeon Laura Nelson against three obstacles: a career-ending physical injury, a psychopathic ex-marine who will hesitate at nothing to obtain the exotic beauty with whom he is obsessed, and the numerous skeletons rattling in her own closet.

No skeleton looms more frightening than the one driven by a message from Lonnie Greenwood, the man with the son who needs a lung transplant. He intimates that he possesses knowledge of a secret she’s been carrying for 21 years --- a secret about the death of his buddy, Johnny Diggs, his son’s namesake.

"Gussin, who practiced medicine and worked in medical research, uses her vast knowledge of the field to solidify her medical thrillers in an easy-to-follow storyline. AFTER THE FALL intrigues with twists and chills that keep her fans turning the pages."

As Laura deals with her own injuries and the new job, she also must cope with changes in her home and love lives. She informs her grown children that she intends to accept Tim Robinson’s marriage proposal. Doing so, she opens a Pandora’s box.

However, Laura’s personal challenges pale in comparison to the peril she faces as the head of research at Keystone, the third-largest pharmaceutical company in the world. When she steps into the path of Jake Harter, an FDA project manager and the man infatuated with Adawia Abdul, the beautiful Iraqi scientist who discovered the drug for which Laura’s new company seeks approval, she slams into two deadly forces.

Jake’s attempts to stall approval and keep Adawia from returning to Iraq go beyond hostility. He is the first immovable force. Unbeknownst to Laura, when she challenges Jake, she encounters a self-professed unstoppable enemy who will eliminate her if she gets in his way.

A second, more potentially menacing, force lurks. Laura does not know that Adawia’s dying father is the lead scientist in Saddam Hussein’s bioweapons program. Hussein’s henchmen are pressuring Adawia to return home to take her father’s place. Adawia wants to collect the mega-reward for her discovery before returning to Iraq. The henchmen plan to abduct her if she doesn’t go willingly.

Gussin piles up the bodies as she ratchets up the stakes with more and more revelations of deception. The approval process develops into a figurative ticking bomb for Adawia, Jake and Laura, absorbing readers in page after page of tension-filled suspense. Will Adawia live to gain her prize? Will Laura get a second chance at love? Will Jake prevail? Will Hussein’s henchmen murder Adawia, Laura and Jake? The answers lie in the action-packed pages. To find them, grab a copy today of the not-to-be missed final installment of Dr. Laura Nelson’s saga.
