A Mom After God's Own Heart Devotional

If you regularly participate in women’s bible studies, chances are you’ve heard of Elizabeth George, speaker and author of over 60 books, including the highly acclaimed and bestselling After God’s Own Heart series. Previous editions include A WOMAN AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART, A YOUNG WOMAN AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART and RAISING A DAUGHTER AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART, among several others. Most of George’s books, as well as regular radio spots and podcasts, center on women, helping them to become everything God created them to be.

"A MOM AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART DEVOTIONAL is a small book, the perfect size to slip in your purse and pull out while waiting in the carpool line.... Whether you’re the mother of toddlers, teenagers, or adult children, this book will speak to you."

Now comes the most recent installment in the series, A MOM AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART DEVOTIONAL, based on the book of the same name. Motherhood is one of the most, if not the most, demanding and draining jobs a woman can have. Yes, it brings much joy, but if there’s any group of women who could use some extra inspiration and encouragement, it’s moms.

Included are over 270 devotionals that focus on the life of a mom: the struggles, the challenges, the joys, the heartaches. You’ll find meditations on God’s blessings and promises, written in the easy-to-read, positive and practical style for which George is known. The author pulls from her personal life as a mother and grandmother, as well as the observations she’s made while watching her daughters manage their children.

A few of the devotional topic headings you’ll find are: “A Great Day…Or is It?,” “Solitude is a Requirement,” “Don’t Waste Your Mind,” “God Will Meet Real Needs,” “Dress Up…Fix Up…Look Up,” “Longing for A Lot More,” “What a Woman,” “Teach Your Daughters,” “Marriage Takes Time and Energy,” “Help!” and many more. Each meditation concludes with a prayer. At the end of the book are sections for personal notes, including pages for favorite scriptures, truths about God, and insights.

A MOM AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART DEVOTIONAL is a small book, the perfect size to slip in your purse and pull out while waiting in the carpool line. With a lovely padded cover, it would make a great gift for any mom or mother-to-be. The devotions are very short --- 100 to 200 words --- which is just the right length for the mom on the go (and what mom isn’t on the go?). It is also a nice supplement to the full-sized book, offering additional opportunity for personal reflection and meditation.

Whether you’re the mother of toddlers, teenagers, or adult children, this book will speak to you. If you’re looking for a deep or meaty devotional, you won’t find it here. What you will find are small doses of biblical encouragement and strength to get you through those busy days, and inspire you to be the best mom you can be.
