Time to Read for Pleasure....And FINALLY Read What YOU Want!

Around the country you can hear the sighs of relief as colleges wind down for the year. The last weeks were a flurry of finals...papers....and s t r e s s. No matter how long it's been since you have been in school, I think EVERYONE can remember the caffeinated nights when there was just not enough time for everything you had left to do!

For many many this is the end of the road for school.

My son is wrapping up four years at Fordham and there's some pretty palpable excitement surrounding the concept of "no more required reading!"

We're sure you have MANY friends who either are hitting summer vacation or heading into the "real world." May we ask you to share this newsletter or a link to the site with them? Because, after all, we're ALL about what happens when "required reading" gets turned off and "pleasure reading" gets turned on.

And if you are one of our readers who is graduating...congratulations!! We toast you --- and are here to recommend books you WANT to read.

Special Feature and Contest: Are You My Mother? by Alison Bechdel
In the midst of reading Alison Bechdel’s newest memoir, Are You My Mother?, an amazing thing happens: You begin to realize how truly universal this story is, regardless of the type of relationship you have with your own mother. The analytical search for identity forms and shapes us, and the older we get, the more we want to trace our foundations and understand the nature vs. nurture conflict that went us within our own beings as we developed.
Are You My Mother? Contest: Enter to win one of 50 copies of Are You My Mother? by Alison Bechdel by Monday, May 14th at 11:59PM!

Bookshelf: Books for Mom 2012 - Mother’s Day is SUNDAY, a day which gives us all a chance to recognize the woman who made sure we did our homework, that we brushed our teeth and who handed out advice that we opted to sometimes listen to --- and probably should have a lot more than we did. These are just some of the reasons we celebrate moms with their own special day. Need a hint on what to buy her for a present? We have 20 suggestions.

Bookshelf: YA Guilty Pleasures: Young Adult (YA) books are most certainly NOT just for teens! Sara Ingle, a student at Fordham University curates a bookshelf here with some of her favorite titles.

Special Feature: MOST TALKATIVE by Andy Cohen - Andy Cohen has an obsession. He loves TV. Growing up in St. Louis all he wanted to do was find out what fictional femme fatale Erica Kane was up to. As a young journalist-in-the-making, Cohen finally met the actress who portrayed his boyhood crush --- Susan Lucci.

Now, he gets to hang out with the Erica Kane's of Orange County, New York, New Jersey, Atlanta and beyond as the host of Watch What Happens Live and the Real Housewives reunion shows. A childhood fantasy come-true.

From summers spent at sleep-away camp writing letters to remind his mother to tape his soap operas, to pajama parties in the Bravo Clubhouse with Oscar-winning actors, Andy Cohen has lived a charmed life, and in MOST TALKATIVE he shares it all.

Blog by Bridget Ryan: My Author Discovery -- Sarah Dessen
Like many college students, finding the time to sit down and crack open a book is always a challenge. Between classes, studying, and maintaining a social life, there just aren’t enough hours in the day for me to read for enjoyment as much as I would like. Fortunately, there are the glorious days of summer and lounging by the pool to make up for all the lost time that I have wasted over textbooks.
