Here is this week's regional bestseller roundup compiled from IndieBound-affiliated stores nationwide, broken down into eight specific areas. You can find the closest Indie store for you here.

This week's hardcover fiction lists look relatively same as weeks' prior, with one notable title charting this week. Change-rae Lee's THE SURRENDERED hit five of our eight lists, charting as high as No. 2 on the Southern California Independent Booksellers Association list, and between 10-12 elsewhere. We were fortunate enough to conduct an interview with Change-rae during his busy release week.

Also notable, a few regions are certainly supporting their own! Sarah Addison Allen's THE GIRL WHO CHASED THE MOON, set in North Carolina, debuted on the Southern Indie bestseller list at No. 6 while Pat Conroy's SOUTH OF BROAD, set in South Carolina, is still hanging on at No. 11 despite being released in mid-August. Neither title appears on any other of the lists. Meanwhile, Mark Spragg's Wyoming-based novel BONE FIRE debuted at No. 8 on the Mountains and Plains Independent Booksellers Association.

One can't help but notice the United Nations feel of the trade paperback bestsellers. Represented are authors hailing from England (Chris Cleave), Ethiopia (Abraham Verghese), Sweden (Stieg Larsson), France (Muriel Barbery), Ireland (Colm Toibin and Colum McCann), Scottland (Alexander McCall Smith), England (Mary Anne Shaffer and Annie Barrows), Canada (Alan Bradley), and the U.S.A (Lisa See, Jamie Ford, Garth Stein, Elizabeth Strout and Nicholas Sparks). Reading makes the world go 'round!
